Regional LEAN Manager – PALFINGER Production Systems (PPS) – North America

PALFINGER is seeking a strong Regional LEAN Manager- PALFINGER Production Systems (PPS) candidate familiar with working in a plant environment to join the team and work out of our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Council Bluffs, IA., or any other PALFINGER plant locations. Job Summary

This position will be responsible for establishing a LEAN thinking culture following the global PPS strategy for the North America regional plants, by developing and executing development plans based on value stream design.
This role reports to the North America Vice President, Operations, offering a competitive compensation package and opportunity for on-going career growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establishes a LEAN thinking culture following the group PPS strategy
  • Creates mid-term-oriented region and plant development plans based on value stream design together with corporate and plants
  • Delivers the value stream view for global capacity balancing (interface to SCM)
  • PPS education
  • Is responsible for recruiting Plant PPS Managers (accountable = LPM)
  • Supports the recruiting process of trainees for regional PPS manager positions
  • Supports PPS trainings for all employees in the region
  • Implements OEE understanding and tracking
  • Supervises PPS education projects
  • Defines education projects with corporate and plants
  • PPS development and support
  • Responsible for OPC (target value streams and factory layout concept)
  • Supports investment planning, approval and controlling
  • Supports industrial engineering in factory layout planning
  • Conducts improvement workshops
  • PPS audit
  • Creates short- & midterm activity plans out of conducted PPS maturity audits
  • Follows up and ensures the implementation of actions defined
  • Supports digitalization deployment in value creation
  • Develops Industry 4.0 maturity & triggers Industry 4.0 projects


  • B.S./B.A. preferred 
  • 10+ years experience within LEAN durable goods manufacturing
  • Proven leadership ability in developing and executing plant-based development plans and establishing a LEAN thinking culture
  • Experience with value stream mapping and capacity planning
  • Experience with defining and providing educational training and workshops
  • Microsoft office (Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Word) proficient.  Excel experience would be at intermediate level.
  • Experience with PowerBI is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills both technical writing skills with well-spoken English is a requirement.
  • SAP experience.
  • AutoCAD or similar 2D modeling software
  • Ability to work with all level of employees to include difficult personalities and the ability to always remain calm and professional in tense or adverse situations.
  • Ability to train all levels of employees and mentor others in the department.
