PALFINGER MARINE has developed a new and innovating system for moving and securing of cargo onboard PSV’s. The system is designed to fit any kind of vessel design.
The Cargo securing system (CSS) consists of:
Customers choice of number of sliding lines to be fitted on cargo deck (standard solution to be 7 -11 sliding lines). Two off securing carriers on each sliding line (one for pulling from stb. side and one for pulling from port side) but numerous of securing carriers can be used on each line.
Pull and speed
Each hydraulic cylinder has a pulling force of 3 - 5 t. With a friction coefficient of 0,2 it manages to pull loads of 15 - 20 t each. By using two lines, cargo with up to 40 t can be pulled on deck. The system can move cargo at a speed of around 6 - 12 m/min. Each securing carrier can be placed anywhere along the sliding rails. The carrier is easily connected to the sliding line by pushing down a handle. The pulling faces of the securing carriers are interchangeable to ease pulling and securing of different types of cargo, such as containers, pipes etc.

Secures cargo on both sides of cargo rail
By using multiple sliding securing carriers on each sliding line, cargo can be secured on both sides of the vessel.
Safe securing during transit
The securing carriers safely secures the cargo during transit. Once the carrier is secured, it is released from the pulling system and other cargo can be pulled and secured using the same sliding line.
The system is operated by hydraulic cylinders. This ensures low maintenance costs and smooth operation. Each line is fitted with one hydraulic cylinder connected to the sliding line for pushing/pulling the securing carriers and cargo against the cargo rail.
The system is delivered as a complete package. HPU can be delivered as an option if this is not available on the vessel. For the CSS no yard supply is required. A “standard” delivery will consist of 7 - 11 CSS lines.
Each line consists of:
One off complete sliding line (to be welded directly onto cargo deck on vessel). One off hydraulic cylinder is delivered as an integrated part of the sliding line.
Two off securing carriers (one for each direction). Multiple securing carriers for each sliding line can be delivered.
The system is operated by a radio remote control unit.
Weight of sliding rail: 80 kg. pr. meter
Weight of securing carrier: 24 kg. each
