Active heave compensated winches
Some of the benefits of the used hydraulic system is that there is zero load drop when the brake is removed. With the commonly used closed loop systems the brake removal procedure often requires re-tuning to avoid the hook from moving when the brake is opened. This is never required with this system. The hook will never move when the brake is opened. The system will also make it possible to hold a load with the brakes off, without any slow lowering of the load due to leakage. This means that the load can be held in subsea mode with brake off and all safety systems active for several days if necessary without any movement of the load. This is a great feature when making subsea installations.
AHC winches by PALFINGER MARINE are based on an secondary controlled hydraulic active heave compensation system. A secondary controlled hydraulic winch enables compensation of the heave motion of the vessel with an extremely fast response time at low power consumptions. In response to the signal of a motion reference unit, the winch will pay in/out wire rope. With a secondary controlled hydraulic system, both active heave compensation and constant tensioning are available on the winch. Our hydraulic driven AHC winches are available up to 400T SWL.
PALFINGER delivers electric driven winches with active heave compensation. High power, low inertia E-motors allow real-time compensation of the heave motion of the load. In response to the signal of a motion reference unit, the winch will pay in/out wire rope. With an electric system both active heave compensation and constant tensioning are available on the winch. Electrical driven AHC winches are available up to 20 T SWL.
