PALFINGER MARINE is the proud supplier to Ship of the Year 2017
In a ceremony at the Nor-Shipping trade fair in Oslo today, the new state-of-the-art high-voltage cable laying vessel NKT Victoria was announced as winner of the prestigious Ship of the Year award, issued by the shipping journal Skipsrevyen. The annual award goes to a Norwegian-built vessel that represents innovation, value added and technological advances. The goal is to acknowledge innovation in Norwegian ship development. This year’s second contender was the Windea Leibniz, a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) for the offshore wind industry.
“PALFINGER MARINE warmly congratulates ship owner NKT along with the vessel’s building yard and design company with winning Ship of the year 2017. We are proud to be one of the suppliers to NKT Victoria, contributing to increase the vessel’s safety and operational efficiency with a comprehensive deck equipment package”, says Vice President Sales & Marketing in PALFINGER MARINE, Bjørn Sturle Hillestad.
PALFINGER MARINE has already a track record as supplier to Ship of the Year. The recent four years PALFINGER MARINE has equipped the three award winners of 2017, 2015 and 2013 – in addition to several runners-up.
To NKT Victoria, PALFINGER MARINE supplied a package consisting of a major winch package (including anchor- and mooring winches, 6-point mooring system winches, A&R winches and various pulling winches) where all of them are electrical driven, two foldable knuckle boom cranes, two totally enclosed lifeboats with accompanying davits, as well as a rescue boat davit.
“This major delivery truly showcases PALFINGER MARINE as a competitive one stop-shop for high-quality deck equipment to the maritime industry. Having a single supplier of complete packages with cranes, winches, lifesaving appliances and other offshore equipment – all supported by attractive service solutions – saves customers time and money, and reduces complexity in their procurement processes. Our global service network helps customers to streamline the service needs for their deck equipment”, Hillestad says.
