PALFINGER to equip Poland’s largest offshore wind farm

27.08.2025

Offshore wind energy continues to gain ground in the Baltic Sea, with the Baltica 2 project marking another milestone for the region. As part of this large-scale development, PALFINGER MARINE was selected to supply more than 100 fully electric PF120 fixed boom service cranes. This makes it the third offshore wind farm in Poland to rely on the technology of PALFINGER MARINE, further strengthening its footprint in the European offshore wind sector.

In the Baltic Sea, the Baltica 2 Wind Farm is taking shape. As the largest installation of its kind in Polish waters to date, it marks a key milestone in the country’s energy transition. As part of this development led by the polish energy producer PGE and Ørsted, PALINGER MARINE will deliver a total of 108 fixed boom service cranes, which will be deployed for servicing the offshore wind turbines. Specially designed for the harsh conditions at sea, these cranes meet the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance required in the offshore wind sector.

"This contract reaffirms our long-standing partnership with Ørsted and highlights their trust in the exceptional quality and reliability of our products and services," says Iavor Markov, Global Key Account & Segment Manager Offshore Wind at PALFINGER MARINE. He adds:

"This achievement underscores our established market position and highlights our continued growth and expanding presence within the Polish offshore wind sector."

Reliable crane support for every turbine

A total of 107 fully electric PF120 fixed boom service cranes will be installed on the service platforms of each turbine, ensuring the safe transfer of spare parts and tools during maintenance and repair operations. These cranes will be delivered from September 2025 till March 2026. One additional PF120 unit will be provided for training purposes, allowing maintenance teams to prepare for their work under realistic offshore conditions.

Cranes are often developed to address specific customer requirements and gradually evolve into independent series. The PF crane series is a prime example, several of its design features were originally created for individual clients and have since become market standards.

A growing footprint

Building on the ongoing delivery of 100 PF120 cranes for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, the Baltica 2 project represents the next major milestone for PALFINGER MARINE. As the third offshore wind project in Poland to integrate PALFINGER MARINE’s proven lifting technology, this collaboration highlights the strong trust and continuity within the sector. With offshore wind energy gaining significant momentum across Europe, PALFINGER is reinforcing its position as a reliable partner, providing innovative and efficient solutions to ensure safe operations at sea.
